FELLOWS NEWS 2010 ALSTON BANNERMAN FELLOWS SELECTED The Alston Bannerman Sabbatical Fellowship honors and supports longtime organizers of color by giving them the resources to take time out for reflection and renewal. Fellows receive a $25,000 award to take sabbaticals for three months or more. The 2010 Sabbatical Fellows are: Robert Alvarado, Committee for Environmental Justice Action (CEJA), San Antonio, TX Diana Bustamante, Colonias Development Council (CDC), Las Cruces, NM Fekkak Mamdouh, Restaurant Opportunities Centers United (ROC-U), New York, NY Jose Matus, Allianza Indigena Sin Fronteras, Tucson, AZ Denise Perry, Power U, Miami, FL Al White, Action Communication and Education Reform (ACER), Duck Hill, MS The Alston Bannerman Senior Fellowship supports experienced community-based leaders who have demonstrated their ability to develop proactive strategic ideas. With this $25,000 award, Senior Fellows receive a $25,000 award to conduct projects of their own design applying a racial justice lens to important issues facing communities of color.
