Maya Wiley Steps Down as CSI President to Accept New Position in the Office of the Mayor of New York City

CSI Board of Directors Interviewing Candidates for Executive Director Position

New York, NY — After 12 years of leadership, CSI Co-Founder Maya Wiley stepped down as CSI President to accept a new position as Counsel to New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio.  As Counsel, Ms. Wiley will use her legal and policy expertise to ensure that all New Yorkers have the opportunity to succeed.

“The Center for Social Inclusion was my dream. And that dream is fully realized and soaring as an established and effective organization working to create solutions to some of our nation’s most pressing problems in ways that ensure everyone, particularly communities of color, benefit. ” said Ms. Wiley.  “CSI’s work lifting up how and why race matters is still so vital to the discussion about our nation’s future.” Ms. Wiley added, “I leave CSI with great confidence in capable hands.”

With the news of Maya’s new position, the CSI Board of Directors announced that they have begun interviewing candidates for the Executive Director position.

The Chair of CSI’s Board of Directors Paul Hudson said: “Mayor Bill de Blasio is extremely lucky to have Ms. Maya Wiley on his team and we’re looking forward to seeing how New York City will benefit from her talents.” Mr. Hudson added, “We look forward to adding new leadership to guide CSI’s dedicated team. ”
