MAYA WILEY SPEAKS ON PANEL AT HUDSON INSTITUTE

Last week, CSI Director Maya Wiley sat on a panel convened by the Hudson Institute to discuss former President of Atlantic Philanthropies Gara LaMarche‘s September 2010 speech delivered at MIT about the moral foundations of philanthropy.

Alongside Maya were Gara himself, Phil Buchanan, President of the Center for Effective Philanthropy and Leslie Lenkowsky, Professor of Public Affairs and Philanthropic Studies at Indiana University.

Maya chose to highlight the tension between transaction and transformation in the world of philanthropy. She asked if social transformation could be sufficiently measured. And she asked how we as grant seekers and grant makers balance short-term effectiveness with long-term vision
