Jenny Levison

Jenny Levison is Interim Senior Vice President of Development & Partnerships at the new Race Forward. The new Race Forward is the union of two leading racial justice non-profit organizations: Race Forward and Center for Social Inclusion (CSI). As Interim Senior Vice President, Jenny Levison provides development, marketing, and communications leadership through the management of the new Race Forward’s fundraising and organizational communications.

Jenny has worked for over 20 years at the nexus of the arts, media, justice, and equity. As a creative strategist and writer for progressive organizations, she specializes in communications, organizational development, fundraising, PR, and arts/activism.

Jenny has worked in and written about the fields of anti-South African apartheid, reproductive rights and gender justice, labor organizing and economic justice, immigrant rights, racial equity, disability rights, LGBTQ rights, progressive Jewish activism, and counter-white supremacy. She has written and edited articles, white papers, blogs, and reports for some of the country’s leading racial justice organizations, including Center for New Community, Race Forward (formerly Applied Research Center) and Political Research Associates.

She has been a creative communications strategist with United for a Fair Economy, where she co-created the national satirical media campaign Billionaires for Bush (Or Gore)—targeting big money in politics during the 2000 Presidential elections; for Enlace, where she produced a CD of Mexican and Mexican American labor music; and for Teamsters for a Democratic Union, where she wrote, directed, and produced campaign and issue videos. She is a former staff and board member, and current member and communications consultant with Jews for Racial and Economic Justice (JFREJ).  She also is a member of the artist council of Jewish Voice for Peace.

Jenny is also a writer, filmmaker, and theater artist. A seasoned storyteller, she is the recipient of residencies and awards from LABA: A Laboratory for Jewish Culture, Atlantic Center for the Arts, Voice and Vision Theater, New Century Playwriting Award, Caldera, Regional Arts and Culture Council, the Institute for Judaic Studies, the Lilla Jewel Fund for Women Artists, the Puffin Foundation, and the Jacob Zukerman Fund of the Workman’s Circle.

She holds an MFA in Dramatic Writing from NYU, Tisch School of the Arts, and a BA in Anthropology and Religion from Bates College.
